Pre and Post Treatment Care

Laser Tattoo Removal

Meticulous wound care is crucial after skin resurfacing; below are the Elite Medical Skin & Laser Center recommendations for follow-up.

Post-Treatment Care:

After your Laser Tattoo treatment, please observe the following:

  • Mild to Moderate discomfort, with red or sunburned skin for the first  12-48 hours.
  • Pixel texture and skin flaking will occur for the first 3-5 days post treatment.
  • Full recovery in 5-7 days.
  • On day 4 if skin is no longer irritated, you may start wearing light makeup… apply mineral makeup only.
  • On day 5 you may gently exfoliate.
  • Downtime is decreased with subsequent treatments.

Post-Treatment Care Tattoos

  • Apply a layer of Aquaphor, Petrolatum, or Bacitracin.
  • Gently cleansing the area with soap and water; continue until redness and swelling subside.
  • Keep the area moist with antibiotic ointment at all times.
  • Apply Laser Enzyme gel for soothing.
  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun on the treatment area; use UVA/UVB sun blockers. Please remember sun exposure can cause delayed hyper/hypopigmentation & possible blistering. After 2 weeks a sun block of at least 30 SPF is recommended.
  • Keep the area moist with hydrating ointment 24-72 hours post treatment.
  • No shaving over the treated area for 2 weeks.

  • Patients should return no sooner than 8 weeks after the last treatment for tattoos
  • If there has been partial clearance of the tattoo, treatment should be continued, and the patient should return after a minimum of 8 weeks for examination and for additional treatment
